How the Pronunciation Engine Works

  1. 1. Lexical analysis — Detects currencies, percentages, dates, ordinals, abbreviations, and named entities in context. "WHO" in a health article is spoken as "World Health Organization"; in a question it stays "who."
  2. 2. Publisher dictionary — Each publisher maintains a custom pronunciation lexicon for brand names, reporter names, local place names, and domain-specific terms that generic TTS will always get wrong.
  3. 3. Show structuring — Articles are rewritten into a listener-friendly format with natural hooks, paragraph transitions, and a closing sign-off — not just text read top to bottom.
